Senate Appropriations Committee Announces Aid for South Louisiana Electric Cooperative Association

Senator John Kennedy announced nearly $85 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster aid grants for Louisianians on Tuesday.  Over $77.5 of that funding will go to the South Louisiana Electric Cooperative Association for system-wide repairs related to Hurricane Ida.

A New $750 Million Power Station Will Supply Electricity to a Group of Five Electric Cooperatives in Louisiana

A $750 million, 700-megawatt electric generation plant is being built by Kindle Energy in Iberville Parish.  The Magnolia Power Generating Station will supply power to the 1803 Electric Cooperative, an alliance of five utility groups, and is expected to begin commercial operations in May 2025.

Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Work Together to Provide Hurricane Ida Relief

Arkansas Electric Cooperatives dispatched an additional 181 line workers and utility vehicles to Houma to help South Louisiana Electric Cooperative Association restore power. Arkansas Electric Cooperatives previously sent more than 200 line workers to Louisiana to assist with the storm damage hours after Hurricane Ida struck through Louisiana.
