BNSF Railway to Increase Coal Shipments to Dairyland Facility

BNSF Railway has pledged to increase shipments of coal to the Genoa facility of Dairyland Power Cooperative.  Dairyland is confident that the increased shipments will allow its Genoa facility to continue operating through the winter.  The increase is due to pressure from the federal Surface Transportation Board.  To read more, please click here.

An Iowa farmer is powering his irrigation system with solar power generated by a twenty-two panel array on his property.  Western Iowa Power Cooperative has entered a ten year net metering deal under which it will purchase any excess power generated by the array.  Click here for more.

Mississippi Coop to Receive FEMA Funds for Severe Weather Cleanup

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved over $2.43 million in Disaster Relief Fund grants to be distributed to the City of Tupelo and the East Mississippi Electric Power Association to fund debris removal and utility repairs necessitated by tornadoes and severe weather that hit northeast Mississippi in April.  Click here for more.

Coop Solar Facility Completed June 30

A solar facility consisting of 1,880 solar panels was completed this summer as a result of the joint efforts of Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services, People’s Energy Cooperative and Tri-County Electric Cooperative.  The facility is expected to produce about 682,000 kWh a year.
