Basin Electric Builds 1,490 MW Plant to Deliver Reliable and Affordable Power
Basin Electric Power Cooperative is developing the 1,490 MW Bison Generation Station, a $4 billion combined cycle natural gas plant in North Dakota designed to meet growing regional demand and provide reliable power. Construction begins in 2026, with the first unit expected to be operational in 2029 and the second unit to be operational by 2030, using advanced technologies for emissions control and serving traditional load sectors like agriculture, oil and gas, and manufacturing.
