Ozarks Electric Cooperative is joining with Today’s Power and Springdale Public Schools in a new solar project which will offset about 95% of the total energy consumed by certain schools and will save cooperative members about $2.3 million over the next 25 years.

Many coops across the country are assisting their local schools as the new year starts amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Peace River Electric Cooperative, Ozarks Electric Cooperative, Southside Electric Cooperative, Trico Electric Cooperative and Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative were among many coops to donate supplies to schools across the country.

Arkansas Cooperative Part of Team Launching Solar + Storage Facility

Ozarks Electric Cooperative, together with the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Today’s Power Inc., launched a new solar and energy storage facility last week. The facility boasts 10 MW of solar capacity and 24 MWh of battery storage. The project expects to save the city $180,000 per year and aid the city’s pursuit of clean energy goals.
