Inside Passage Electric Cooperative Selected for Federal Tribal Energy Funding

Inside Passage Electric Cooperative is a Juneau-based nonprofit utility serving more than 1,300 members in remote Southeast Alaska communities separated by water and mountains, and it has worked with tribes on earlier Department of Energy grid-resilience projects such as vegetation management in Klukwan and battery storage in Kake. It has now been selected for funding negotiations under a $125 million Department of Energy initiative covering 63 tribal energy projects in 16 states, which federal officials called the largest single investment in the Office of Indian Energy’s history, though the co-op’s project scope, funding amount and schedule have not yet been made public.
