Oregon Cooperative Volunteers to Electrify Guatemalan Village

The Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association, an organization of 18 cooperatives from around the state, will be sending 12 volunteers to the village of Ventura in Guatemala to install four miles of power lines that will power 35 homes. The volunteers will also be wiring those homes for electricity.

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association International Coordinates Electrification Project in Guatemala

Thirty-one volunteer lineworkers from Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Colorado traveled to Guatemala with National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) International to electrify two villages in Guatemala. The project successfully brought electricity to the homes, schools, and churches of around 550 people.

NRECA International to Operate Nigerian Utility

NRECA International has signed a $10 million, five-year contract to take over the operation of a struggling distribution utility in south-central Nigeria and transform it into a profitable company that provides high-quality service to its customers.
