Missouri Coop Suffers Tornado Damage

Black River Electric Cooperatives buildings and trucks suffered severe damage after a tornado swept through southeast Missouri on October 24th. Despite the damage, the coop, with the help of eight other Missouri coop crews, restored power to a majority of members by the evening of the 25th.

Coops Receive Aid to Support Wildfire Repairs

Lane Electric Cooperative and Consumers Power Inc., two electrical coops serving customers in Oregon, will receive a combined $21 million to help cover the cost of repairs to electric transmission and distribution infrastructure damaged by wildfires in September 2020.

Wildfires Threaten Electric Coop’s Territory

The California Dixie Fire, which has burned nearly 1 million acres since mid-July, continues to threaten areas served by Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative. The coop, which serves roughly 8,000 meters northwest of Reno, Nevada, has been on backup power since July 21.

Tracking the Electric Coop Response to Hurricane Ida

A massive mutual aid effort involving utility crews from more than 30 states is underway after Hurricane Ida made landfall west of New Orleans as a powerful Category 4 storm. Crews from electric coops in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas are headed to Louisiana to assist with power restoration.
