East Texas Electric Cooperative has approved the development of a proposed 50 MW biomass power plant for approximately $190 million, which will use wood chips as fuel and be completed in 2014.  Biomass Magazine has the story.

Basin Completes Construction of Wind Farm

Potential Litigation Regarding Massachusetts Wind Turbines

Governor’s Support of Vermont Electric Cooperative’s Wind Project Leads to Protests

USDA Announces $204 Million Loan Guarantee for PrairieWinds SD 1 Project

Basin Electric Power Cooperative is to receive a guarantee of 60% of its $340 million dollar PrairieWinds SD 1 project from the USDA’s Rural Utilities Service.   For details see the US Department of Energy’s EERE News.

Controversy Over Plans to Build Wind Turbines in Massachusetts

Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s 162 MW Wind Farm is the Largest in South Dakota

The Daily Republic reports that once all 100 turbines are operational, Basin Electric will exceed its goal of generating at least 10 percent of its power from renewable sources.  Construction of the $363 million dollar PraireWinds SD 1 project began last year and all turbines should be online by the middle of February.
